Trauma is experienced when an event is so extraordinary that it overwhelms a person's ability to cope. Because trauma affects the brain’s limbic system, it can result in dysregulated sleeping, eating, lack of body coordination, and a sense of losing one's way in the world. Therapy helps address the "re-set" process of the person's body and mental state. Two of the therapies I find most effective include EMDR and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
